A Green Solution for a Changing Districtting

Urban Design Framework and spacial planning

Kooye-Faraz is an area that is projected to develop soon due to its unique location and excellent weather conditions in comparison to other parts of the city. However, severe environmental constraints will make the unplanned settlement extremely perilous. One of the active Tehran fault lines, for example, goes through the area from the south. Also, the high voltage electrical line runs through the northern part, and the area is prone to seasonal flooding. The landslide is yet another hazard to the site, making high-rise building construction problematic.

Although there is already illegal development in the form of high-rise buildings in the area, we require a framework that can direct changes. Unlike illegal developments, this framework must meet environmental constraints and envision a more vibrant future. On two different design scales, this concept tries to regulate the future growth of a district. It presents a design framework to prevent negative developments, as well as a spatial master plan at different site scales. The environmental dimensions must be prioritized due to the district’s location.
