Affordable Housing for Large Families
Nemat Abad Residential Complex, Tehran, Iran.
Executive summary
In Tehran, one of the main problems for low-income communities is the limited availability of affordable housing options, particularly for families with children. This issue is particularly pronounced in the southern part of the city, where the demand for affordable housing far exceeds the existing supply. Families in these communities often find themselves grappling with inadequate living conditions and constrained spaces, which can have a profound impact on their quality of life and overall well-being.
Integral to the design concept is the provision of generous spaces that cater specifically to the needs of families and children. Recognizing the importance of play and interaction in a child›s development, the proposed residential complex places a strong emphasis on recreational areas. These spaces are envisioned to serve as vibrant hubs for socialization and engagement, encouraging healthy relationships among families and neighbors alike. Playgrounds, gardens, and community centers are among the features that could be incorporated, offering safe and stimulating environments for children to explore, learn, and grow. Moreover, the design also takes into account the broader neighborhood context and seeks to integrate the residential complex with existing urban infrastructure. This could include easy access to public transportation, and educational facilities, enhancing the overall accessibility and convenience for the residents.
